Chestatee's Felix honored by National Soccer Coaches Association

By staff
Cristian Felix, a senior forward from Chestatee High School and Madison Hall, a senior forward from Byron Nelson High School (Trophy Club, Texas), are the NSCAA/ High School Players of the Week.

The high school season in Georgia is just kicking off, and nobody is off to a hotter in-state start than Felix. The senior helped his program to four wins in its first week with five goals and three assists over that span. That got him named to the Northeast Georgia Mountain Cup all-tournament team for the second consecutive year. Felix earned this honor as a junior after leading the War Eagles to their first regional championship in school history.

Hall's impact in Byron Nelson's 3-3 draw against defending Class 4A state champion Denton Guyer helped her program stay a point ahead of Guyer in the district standings as the playoffs approach. Byron Nelson trailed 3-1 early in the second half when Hall, a 2014 Arkansas commit, scored her final two goals to pull Byron Nelson level and salvage a vital draw to preserve its district run.

Other boys finalists include Zico Rebollar (Chestatee High School, Gainesville) and Trey Blasingame (The Westminster Schools, Atlanta). Other girls finalists include Jessie Herfurth (Hickory High School, Hickory, N.C.) and Maggie Letki (Wilson High School, Florence, Ala.).

The NSCAA/ High School Player of the Week honor is designed to highlight a selection of the nation's rising stars populating the high school ranks. Coaches are free to nominate a boys or girls player each week through our submission form that can be found here. Be sure to include the school and any relevant stats from the previous week. The selection process will take into account a slew of factors from contribution to team results to individual accolades. Honorees are announced each Wednesday.
