Baseball: Dragons skewer Tigers, 17-6

COMMERCE -- Jefferson scored nine runs in the first two innings en route to a 17-6 defeat of rival Commerce on Wednesday in Commerce.

Jake Franklin, Trent Sorrells and Hanon Price each cranked home runs for the Dragons, who racked up 14 total hits on the day. Franklin and Price also doubled, while Franklin and Sorrells each manufactured four RBI. Price also drove in three runs.

Micah Carpenter earned the win on the mound for Jefferson (8-3), pitching five innings, while allowing five hits and four earned runs. He also struck out six batters and walked four.

The Dragons will play host to Wesleyan on Thursday at 5:55 p.m.
