Tennis: Gainesville girls swat Heritage, 5-0

The Gainesville girls tennis team defeated Heritage, Conyers 5-0 on Monday in Region 8-AAAAA play.

The Lady Red Elephants (5-1) won without dropping a set, including a 6-2, 6-2 win for Brinkley Frankum at No. 1 singles. Katherine Wright also won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, while Haley Frankum won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.

Meanwhile, Morgan Mercer/Georgia Summer claimed a 7-6, 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles, while Suzanne Smith/Sally Callahan won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

Gainesville will travel to play Apalachee on Thursday.
