Author Virginia Euwer Wolff to speak at Piedmont March 25-26

DEMOREST - In her books for young adults, award-winning author Virginia Euwer Wolff often examines social issues such as racism, teen pregnancy, and poverty. Wolff will talk about these issues during a two-day visit to Piedmont College March 25-26.<br /> <br /> Wolff will be the inaugural speaker for a new lecture series titled "Social Ethics Meets Creativity and Innovation" and will talk about how three 20th-century figures have dealt with social issues in their lives. The event will be held at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 25, in the Swanson Center Screening Room at the Demorest campus.<br /> <br /> On Wednesday, March 26, from 6-8 p.m., the college will host a reception with a reading and book signing by Wolff in the Mason-Scharfenstein Museum of Art. Both events are free and everyone is invited. Copies of her books will be available at the events and in the college bookstore.<br /> <br /> Wolff is the winner of the 2011 Phoenix Award for her novel "The Mozart Season." Her 2001 novel, "True Believer," won the National Book Award, and her newest novel for young adults, "This Full House," is on the American Library Association's Amelia Bloomer List. Her other books include "Probably Still Nick Swansen" and "Bat 6."
