Baseball: Dawson County charges to 5-2 win over Gilmer

ELLIJAY -- The Dawson County baseball team scored three runs in the top of the seventh to notch a 5-2 win over Gilmer on Wednesday in Ellijay.

Levi Whitmire earned the win in relief on the mound for the Tigers (5-0), tossing two scoreless innings and striking out three. Logan Burt started the game and went five innings, fanning 12 Bobcats, walking five and allowing just three hits.

Burt also starred at the plate, scoring two runs, while racking up two hits and an RBI. Zach Buckan also had two hits and two RBI, while Brody Chester had a hit and two RBI.

Dawson County will start Region 7-AAA play on Monday against West Hall at 5 p.m. in Dawsonville.
