GAINESVILLE - Students in the Gainesville School System are going to have to make up one of their "snow" days on Friday, April 4.
That was to have been a holiday. Schools will be closed the following week for Spring Break.
Schools Supt. Merrianne Dyer confirms, however, that any student or teacher who had made travel plans for that day - expecting schools to be closed - will be excused without penalty.
Dr. Dyer also says the school system has learned that it is being recognized nationally for the school safety drills it conducts in cooperation with the Gainesville Police Department.
