Class AAA playoffs: Lady Tigers knock off Cartersville on the road

CARTERSVILLE -- The 2013 state finalists picked up where they left off Saturday night.

The Dawson County girls went on the road and came away with an impressive 58-48 win over Cartersville in the first round of the Class AAA playoffs.

The Lady Tigers (20-9) will play Morgan County on Monday in the second round. A time for tip-off has yet to be determined.

Dawson County led most of the way. The Lady Tigers opened with a 16-12 first quarter and took a 31-25 lead into halftime.

The Lady Hurricanes rallied in the third quarter to tie the score at 39. The Lady Tigers would close out the period with a 5-0 run for a 44-39 lead. Dawson County held Cartersville to just nine points in the fourth quarter while extending its lead.

Ashley Parker led Dawson County with 22 points and 13 rebounds. Karlie Bearden added 16 points and Sheyenne Seabolt had 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Tigers.
