8-AAAAA tournament: Gainesville boys and girls will battle for third

LOGANVILLE -- The Gainesville boys and girls basketball teams each suffered semifinal defeats to Clarke Central on Tuesday in the Region 8-AAAAA tournament in Loganville.

Both teams will play for third place seeding on Wednesday at Loganville, the girls at 4 p.m. and the boys at 5:30 p.m.

The Lady Red Elephants fell to Clarke Central 51-38 in their semifinal.

Kabree Randolph led Gainesville with 10 points.

Coach Brenda Hill-Gilmore noted that she is proud of her young team, which had already clinched a state berth.

The Gainesville boys fell to top-seeded Clarke Central 66-42.

The Lady Red Elephants will face Loganville in their third place. The Gainesville boys will take on Salem.
