Suspect found in abandoned house following chase

By Staff
GAINESVILLE - Hall County authorities were able to catch a suspect who led officers on a car and foot chase in the northwestern part of the county Tuesday afternoon.

Sheriff's Deputy Nicole Bailes says 25-year-old Joseph Oliver was found hiding in an abandoned residence on Willie Robinson Road after authorities used K-9s to track him.

The incident began just before 5 p.m. when officers attempted to stop Oliver in what they believed to be a stolen vehicle. Oliver abandoned the vehicle on Leach Road after a short car chase.

According to Bailes, Oliver had seven outstanding warrants that stemmed from a prior incident in January of this year, mostly traffic related offenses and a state probation warrant. She said authorities were working on filing additional charges after Tuesday's chase.
