8-A Tournament: Lakeview girls, boys advance to semifinals

COMMERCE -- The Lakeview Academy girls advanced to the semifinals of the Region 8-A Tournament after taking an impressive 64-35 win over Hebron Christian Saturday at Commerce High School.

The Lady Lions led just 12-10 after the first quarter and 27-20 at halftime. They turned up the defense and offense in the second half.

Lakeview outscored Hebron 17-8 in the third quarter and exploded for a 20-7 fourth quarter run to blow the game open.

Hannah Grogan paced the Lady Lions with 18 points. Haley Cash added 14 for Lakeview.

The Lady Lions will take on host Commerce on Monday at 4 p.m. in the semifinals.

Lakeview Academy used a 16-6 second run to open things up and then cruised to a win in the quarterfinals.

Lakeview Academy led just 19-15 after the first quarter but led 35-21 at halftime after the decisive run. The Lions maintained a double-digit most of the second half.

Tre Gober led Lakeview with 16 points. Daniel Fadool added 14, John Mills 12, and Kirk Schneider had five rebounds, five assists, and four steals for the Lions.

Lakeview will take on Athens Christian on Monday at 8:30 p.m. in the semifinals.
