Police investigate deadly Flowery Branch shooting

FLOWERY BRANCH - Flowery Branch police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead early Saturday morning.

Flowery Branch Mayor Mike Miller confirmed the shooting, saying the victim was killed around 2 a.m. as he and others were leaving The Branch House Tavern on McEver Road.

The victim was identified as Donald Lee Battle, Jr, 26, of Buford. Miller said he had recently moved to the area from Minnesota.

Miller said the GBI was assisting the Flowery Branch Police Department with the investigation.

He did not say if any arrests had been made, nor did he know of a motive for the shooting.
