Hall Co. closes EOC but warns roads are still dangerous

By Staff
GAINESVILLE - The Hall County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) has closed after being open the past several days as various county agencies and officials monitoring the winter storm.

"After the latest weather briefing it appears the thawing process has begun but black ice will remain an issue tonight and in the morning," county EMA spokesman Scott Cagle said, "with temperatures below freezing."

Cagle added county officials encourage everyone to remain off the roads until early Friday afternoon "until the roads improve drastically." Side roads and subdivision roads will still be treacherous but should improve with temperatures Friday reaching to the 50s.

"Even though the EOC is closed for this particular event, county agencies are still working and monitoring the situation (and) weather conditions today."
