Passenger train service to N. Ga. suspended for a 2nd day

By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor
WASHINGTON - Amtrak suspended passenger train service in north Georgia again today because of the lingering effects of this week's snow storm.

The Crescent usually stops twice-a-day in Toccoa, Gainesville and Atlanta, once in the morning on its way from New York to New Orleans and once in the evening on the return trip to New York.

Amtrak officials said yesterday service was being halted to reduce the exposure of Amtrak passengers, crews and rail equipment to extreme weather conditions.
