Girls basketball: North Hall beats West Hall, gets some help to finish alone at No. 2

GAINESVILLE -- The North Hall girls did exactly what they required to have a chance at the No. 2 seed in Region 7-AAA on Saturday -- and then Dawson County gave them a little help to ensure they are indeed No. 2.

The Lady Trojans pushed past West Hall 58-44 in Gainesville, while Dawson County knocked off Banks County later in the evening to leave North Hall all alone in second place.

Sydney Cleveland scored 17 points to pace the Lady Trojans (17-8, 9-5 Region 7-AAA), while Kensi Gillespie added 14. Taylor-Ann Kelly also scored 10.

Both teams will play again on Tuesday in the first round of the Region 7-AAA tournament.
