Lady Jackets upset No. 13 North Carolina

By The Associated Press
ATLANTA -- Tyaunna Marshall pumped in 32 points and set a new Georgia Tech scoring record in a 94-91 upset over No. 13 North Carolina on Thursday night.

Marshall broke the school career scoring record on a pair of free throws that gave her 1,956 career points and cemented the win with just 4 seconds left in the close contest. The previous record was 1,955 set in 1997 by Kisha Ford, who went on to play in the WNBA.

Kaela Davis contributed 20 points and 10 rebounds for Georgia Tech (15-8, 5-5 ACC), while Sydney Wallace added 14 points, and Aaliyah Whiteside got her first double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. It was the first time since 2012 that the Yellow Jackets beat a ranked team.

North Carolina (17-6, 5-4) got 22 points and nine rebounds from Diamond DeShields, who led four Tar Heels in double figures.

Kiffin shining again after season of redemption
Lane Kiffin was modest in his goals and complimentary about the team he'll be facing in the Sugar Bowl. He went on and on about how much he's learned from Nick Saban, while insisting it's no big deal when his boss yells at him. Very un-Kiffin-like, you might say.
