Free mulch now available at county recycling center 5 days a week

By Staff
GAINESVILLE - Hall County residents can now pick up free mulch every weekday at the Hall County Recycling Center.

In the past, the wood mulch was available only on Wednesdays, but now it's available for pick up Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

According to Hall County Recycling Coordinator Rick Foote, the center currently has a large amount of the wood chips, which are mulched from things such as downed trees and overgrown debris cleared by Hall County's Road Maintenance Department. The Recycling Center staff also collects Christmas trees from residents following the holidays, which they also turn into mulch.

"We have mulch from various sources," Foote said. "And right now, we have a lot of it."

Anyone interested in picking up the free mulch is urged to call 770-535-8284 to make sure crews and necessary equipment are available to load the mulch into their vehicle, weather permitting.

The Hall County Recycling Center is located at 1008 Chestnut Street in Gainesville.
