GAINESVILLE - While no one was hurt, Hall County fire officials say a couple of acres of woods burned Friday afternoon off of Highway 365.

Hall County Fire Services Interim Deputy Chief Chad Black said the call reporting smoke in the area came around 1:41 p.m. to Cagle Road near Pine Drive.

"Some type of outdoor unattended burn got out and got into the woods, causing about two acres to become involved," Black said.

He said the flames got within ten to 15 feet of a residence.

"Our units and Georgia Forestry were able to keep the fire off of that. There was some damage noted to a privacy fence belonging to one of the homeowners in the area."

The fire remains under investigation.
