GDOT postpones Thursday meeting in Banks Co.

By Staff
ATLANTA - Since the Georgia Department of Transportation is spending most of its time cleaning up after Tuesday's winter storm across the region, officials have rescheduled a public meeting that was supposed to happen Thursday in Banks County.

The meeting was to discuss the proposed detour necessary for reconstruction of the State Route 63 Bridge over the Middle Fork of the Broad River, which is 9.4 miles northeast of Homer.

"We are concerned about the safety of people attending the meeting tonight. We want to ensure people are comfortable driving to the meeting so we decided it wisest to not hold the meeting tonight and reschedule it for a later date," said DOT District Engineer Bayne Smith.

The open house had been scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Banks County Courthouse Annex located at 150 Hudson Street in Homer.

Smith said once a new date and time have been determined, DOT will publicize that information.
