Girls basketball: Defense propels Lady Falcons to win

JEFFERSON -- The Flowery Branch girls held Jackson County to single-digits in every quarter in taking a 36-24 win Saturday night on the road.

The Lady Falcons (9-8) opened with a 14-5 first quarter and survived scoring two points in the second quarter to take a 16-10 halftime lead. Flowery Branch outscored the Lady Panthers 20-14 in the second half.

Kylah Mize and Breanna Locke scored eight points to pace Flowery Branch. Locke added six rebounds and five steals. Heather Moore had two points to go with six assists and five rebounds for the Lady Falcons.
