HOMER -- With its go-to option unavailable and facing a late deficit, East Hall boys basketball turned to Jacquen Hopkins on Tuesday night.
And Hopkins responded, big-time.
Hopkins scored the Vikings last six points, including the game-winner with 1.2 seconds remaining to lead East Hall past Banks County, 88-87 in Homer.
"We just turned it over to Jacquen, and he took over," Vikings coach Joe Dix said.
Hopkins' performance capped a 20-point night and a thrilling finish that saw five lead changes inside the final two minutes.
East Hall's leading scorer and rebounder, Kyvon Davenport, fouled out with 3:30 remaining but still managed 24 points and 16 rebounds.
Zez Steeple scored 20 points to pace the Leopards, while Austin Venable added 16 and Jordan Barnett 14.
East Hall will play host to Buford on Friday. Banks County will face Buford on Jan. 21.
