North Georgia women break into Div. II top 25

The University of North Georgia women's basketball team has cracked the top-25 in the most recent USA TODAY NCAA Division II national poll landing in the 19th spot as released by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association on Tuesday afternoon. The Nighthawks garnered 139 votes to secure the program's first national ranking of the 2013-14 season.

The poll's top five spots remained tact from last week's rankings as Bentley (Mass.) held on to the top spot with 793 votes by virtue of their perfect 14-0 ranking. Gannon (Pa.), Emporia State (Kan.), Nova Southeastern (Fla.) and Colorado Mesa rounded out the top five.

North Georgia has won nine consecutive games and stands at 11-1 overall and a perfect 5-0 in Peach Belt Conference play.

UNG returns to action on Wednesday (Jan. 15) with when No. 24 Georgia College invades Memorial Hall for a 5:30 p.m. PBC West Division challenge.
