Man arrested for impersonating an officer

By Staff
GAINESVILLE - Hall County Sheriff's Office officials Friday afternoon said a Bibb County man surrendered earlier in the day at the Hall County Jail, charged with impersonating a public officer.

Douglas William McDonald, 54, of Bibb County, surrendered after a warrant was issued for his arrest, according to Sgt. Mark Mitchell.

McDonald had been stopped by Hall County deputies last Sunday for traffic violations and identified himself as a Macon Police Officer.

Mitchell said further investigation the following day revealed that McDonald was not employed by Bibb County or Macon city law enforcement.

McDonald was being held on $5,000 bond.
