Ga. officials remind drivers to renew licenses

ATLANTA (AP) -- The Georgia Department of Driver Services is reminding motorists to check whether their licenses will expire in 2014.

Commissioner Rob Mikell said in a statement that drivers should plan ahead and avoid waiting until the last minute if their licenses are going to expire this year.

Mikell said in a statement that planning ahead "and having all the necessary documents ready ensures a smooth experience when you visit."

Drivers looking to renew their license are asked to bring a certified birth certificate or passport, a social security card and two documents showing a residential address.

Department officials say Georgia licenses may be renewed up to 150 days before the expiration date.
