Pickens Co. student says he was sexually assaulted at school

By Staff
JASPER - Authorities in Pickens County are investigating a case where a middle school student may have been sexually assaulted by another student.

The alleged assault happened last Thursday at Pickens County Middle School.

Sheriff's investigators said they were called to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta when hospital officials said they were treating a student who had injuries consistent with a sexual assault.

The victim's father spoke with Fox 5 News in Atlanta, telling them his 13-year-old son was attacked while he was in a bathroom at the school. The father, whose identity was not revealed, told reporters that his son is a special needs student and may not fully understand what happened to him.

The father said the boy did not know his attacker, although he was able to identify him in a photo in the school yearbook.

He said his son will not return to class at Pickens Middle School.
