Softball: Buford blanks Lassiter in top 10 battle

By staff
BUFORD -- Buford cleaned up against one of the highest-rated foes its faced so far this season on Monday, blanking Lassiter 9-0 in five innings in Buford.

Lady Wolves pitcher Bria Bush (7-1) was almost unhittable in the circle, yielding just one hit and one walk, as Lassiter never advanced a runner past first base. It was Bush's sixth complete game of the season and third shutout.

Buford sprinted to a five-run lead in the second inning, as Sydney Stavro, Niki Cook, Remington Hasty and Jordan Deep drove in runs.

Drew Puckett added to Buford's advantage with her fourth home run in two games, crushing a third-inning blast. The Lady Wolves (20-1) put the game away in the fourth inning, scoring three runs off of a triple by Cook, an RBI double from Hasty, and a single from Tessa Daniels.

Lassister committed two costly errors in the ballgame that led to Buford runs.

Cook and Daniels each finished 2-for-3, while Puckett was 1-for-1.
