Hope starts strong at City Senior Championship

The first round of the 2013 City Senior Championship was held on Friday at Chattahoochee Golf Club. Walter Hope led with a first round, 3-under 69. Two shots back with opening scores of 71 were Jeb Bates and Ricky Brown. Gene Weschler was alone in fourth place with a even par round of 72.<br /> <br /> In the Championship B division, Joe Roberts fired an even-par 72 (bettering his age by 7 shots). Doug Glidden was second at 77, followed by Duane Roberts and William Hardman with scores of 81.<br /> <br /> The Gold Tee A division leader was Herb Sckerl, with a 1-over par 73. Jerry Shell was second with a 79, third and fourth were Bob Allen (81) and Don Gage (83).<br /> <br /> In the Gold Tee B division, Larry Smith was six shots ahead of his closest competitor Buddy Reeves, who opened the tournament with a 90. Billy Hicks was alone in third with a 92, followed by Jack Prather's 93.
