Softball: Jefferson closes out regular season with sweep

JEFFERSON -- The Jefferson girls softball team closed out its regular season in solid style sweeping a doubleheader against Oglethorpe County Thursday in Region 8-AA action.

The wins for the Lady Dragons secured them the No. 1 seed in the upcoming region tournament.

Jefferson won Game 1, 3-2, behind the pitching of Olivia Husted. In Game 2, the Lady Dragons laced up their hitting shoes. They pounded out 17 hits in a 15-0 whitewash of the Lady Patriots in four innings.

Emily Holman had two hits and fur RBI and Savannah Snapp had three hits ad three RBI for the Lady Dragons. Caitlin Cantrell got the win scattering two hits and striking out four in four innings of work.

Caitlin Cantrell got the win in the second game. This was our last regular season region game. We will go into the Region 8-AA tournament as the #1 seed.
