BUFORD - Gwinnett County Police detectives were working leads Thursday night when a man wanted in a Buford home invasion robbery led police on a chase down Interstate 85.

The suspect is described as a black man wearing a white v-neck shirt, camouflage shorts and red and black shoes, according to police.

He is about 5'10" and weighs 170 lbs. Police said he was driving a white Buick Century.

Authorities believe the man held two boys, ages ten and 14, at gunpoint while he robbed their home on Suwanee Trail Drive.

It started with the man coming to the door asking to mow the yard. Gwinnett County Police Corporal Jake Smith said the older boy turned him away, but the suspect came back.

"This time he brandished a pistol and forced the older victim back into the home. After they'd been inside for just a few minutes, the younger of the two children came home. He was held at gunpoint as well," Smith said.

The nightmare continued for the boys for about 30 minutes, according to Smith.

"The single suspect ordered the older victim to take him around the home and point out the valuable electronics, and actually forced him to help load some of those electronics into the car."

Police said the boys' parents were still at work when the crime happened. The victims were not injured.

Following the 3:35 p.m. response to the house, police officers got behind the suspect's car on I-85 southbound near Beaver Ruin Road.

The chase led into Atlanta where the suspect wrecked near exit 86, according to Smith. The man took off on foot. Gwinnett and Atlanta Police officers and the Georgia State Patrol searched the area but didn't find him.

Most of the items stolen from the home were recovered from the car. Smith said investigators also found a handgun in the vehicle, but still consider the man armed and dangerous.
