Clarkesville man caught in undercover sex sting

By B.J. Williams News Director
GAINESVILLE - A Clarkesville man was arrested in Hall County and charged with enticement of a minor after he was caught in an undercover sting.

Hall County Sheriff's Sgt. Stephen Wilbanks said 20-year-old Brandon Michael Keller was arrested September 6. Wilbanks said the undercover agents were investigating predatory activity on Craig's List when they found an ad apparently placed by Keller.

"They had previously made contact with an individual about an ad that he had posted soliciting a sexual encounter," said Wilbanks. "Investigators were acting in an undercover capacity and made clear that he would be meeting what he thought would be a 15-year-old female."

Keller was arrested when he arrived at a location that he and the investigators agreed upon. He has since posted bond.

Wilbanks said Hall County Sheriff's investigators periodically conduct undercover investigations seeking out child predators, although it isn't an activity that they publicize.

"They don't do it on any type of set schedule or routine. We don't want to be too consistent - we want to keep the criminals guessing in that regard."
