GBI assisting with Elbert County murder investigation

ATHENS - Georgia Bureau of Investigation Region 11 in Athens is assisting the Elbert County Sheriff's Office with a homicide investigation.

The sheriff's office was called to a home at 1048 Porter Drive, Elberton, at 4:35 p.m. Friday. Officers discovered a deceased male, identified as 45-year-old Rodney L. McDuffie of that address.

The GBI confirmed Monday it was requested to assist in the case, which is considered to be a murder investigation.

No arrests have been made in connection with the death and the investigation is ongoing, a statement issued by GBI Region 11 at 11:51 a.m. Monday states.

No additional details are being released at this time.
