Man hit by car, killed on Hwy. 211

BRASELTON - The Georgia State Patrol said a man was killed early Tuesday morning as he walked along Highway 211 in the Braselton area.

GSP Cpl. Charles Parker said at the point in the investigation, the incident appears to be accidental. He said a female driver initially thought she hit a deer around 6:45 a.m. Parker said the woman told investigators she went back to check the road, but she didn't see an animal, she drove on.

"She went back later in the morning - guess [she] had an uneasy feeling - and went back later in the morning and [saw] the investigation," said Parker.

He said a passerby by that time had called 911 after finding the man's body alongside the road.

Parker said the woman is cooperating with authorities, and it does not appear she struck the man intentionally.

"We're still in the investigative phase to find out where the pedestrian was walking, as far as if he was in the road or on the shoulder of the road," said Parker.

The name of the victim has not yet been released.
