I-85 vehicle fire involves NASCAR driver promo bus

JEFFERSON - Motorists on the southbound side of Interstate 85 encountered major delays Wednesday afternoon in Jackson County after a promotional vehicle belonging to NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon caught fire.

The vehicle, described as a promotional tour bus for the No. 24 Drive to End Hunger Chevrolet SS caught on fire just after 3:30 p.m., according to Jackson County fire officials.

The interstate was closed until about 6 p.m. as a result.

No one was hurt in the incident.
