Softball: Lady Wolves keep rollling, blast Allatoona, 8-0

By staff
BUFORD -- Buford softball continued its dominant start to 2013 on Monday and got some revenge in the process.

The Lady Wolves hammered Allatoona 8-0 in five innings in Buford to avenge a 2012 defeat to the Class AAAAA school.

Buford (8-0) pounded out nine hits on offense, while junior Tessa Daniels mowed down the Allatoona line-up, allowing just one hit and one walk, while striking out five batters. Daniels (4-0) had a no-hitter broken up in the fourth inning.

Daniels got all the run support she needed in the first inning, with the Wolves scoring four runs on five hits. Noah Sudderth ended the game in the bottom of the fifth inning with a bases-loaded double, triggering the mercy rule.

Sudderth finished 2-for-3 at the plate with 3 RBI, while Drew Puckett had a hit and 2 RBI. Niki Cook also went 2-for-3 with a stolen base, while Morgan Walters had a hit, an RBI and scored a run.

Buford travels to Banks county on Tuesday for a Region 7-AAA contest at 5:55 p.m.
