Hwy. 53 closed for almost 8 hours following accident

DAWSONVILLE - An accident involving a tractor trailer carrying a load of poultry parts blocked a portion of Highway 53 in Dawson County for almost eight hours Tuesday morning, according to the Dawson County Sheriff's Office.

The truck flipped over at 2:20 a.m. between Valley Road and Buddy Burt Road. The clean-up was not finished until just after 10 a.m.

Authorities said the driver of the rig was not hurt.
