OAKWOOD - Cities and towns across Georgia are moving ahead with plans for their municipal elections this year and Monday the Oakwood City Council firmed up the qualifying period for its election.
City Manager Stan Brown says qualifying will be begin at 8:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26, and end at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 28.
The posts to be voted on this year are Mayor (the incumbent is Lamar Scroggs); Council Post 1 now held by Sam Evans, and Post 2 now held by Ron McFarland.
The election will be held Nov. 5.
