Lifeline volunteers recognized

GAINESVILLE - Lifeline, an affiliate of Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC), recently recognized volunteers who work with the emergency response system.

A luncheon at the Lake Lanier Islands' Legacy Lodge Resort & Conference Center honored volunteers for their work installing and maintaining personal emergency response systems for residents of northeast Georgia.

Special guest speaker at the luncheon was Tommy Appling, son of Lifeline coordinator, Dianne Appling. Additional guests included Scott Masters, director of Emergency Medical Transportation at NGMC and Lynne Allen, director of Volunteer Services at NGMC.

These special guests joined Lifeline of NGMC in congratulating Lifeline volunteers for 29 years of commitment to "preserving the dignity of the physically disabled, medically at risk and older adults" in the community.
This past year, Lifeline volunteers installed 74 units, drove more than 10,885 miles and gave more than 1,500 volunteer hours, allowing 338 subscribers to continue living independently in their homes with the security of knowing they can quickly access help if they need it.

"Our Lifeline volunteers bring talent, passion, incredible work ethic and tremendous knowledge," says Dianne Appling. "The difference they are making in the lives of so many is powerful and comes at a time when the need has never been greater. Thank you for giving your time to help others."
