GAINESVILLE - Georgia Power workers will perform maintenance work on historic Green Street Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
Georgia Power Company spokesman Darrell Snyder said lanes would be closed from the area in front of First Baptist church to the area near the Post Office beginning around 9 p.m. Tuesday. Work is expected to continue until approximately 3 a.m. Wednesday.
Snyder said crews will be working on 14 power poles through the night. Contract crews will work as flaggers in the area to control traffic flow.
He said Green Street will be passable; however, the intersection of Ridgewood Avenue and Green Street will be blocked for the duration of the work event.
