Police arrest two in robbery case

GAINESVILLE - Gainesville Police Wednesday announced the arrest of two Gainesville men related to a robbery last week at Lake Lanier Club Apartments on Dawsonville Highway.

The actual crime happened around 11:25 a.m. last Thursday.

"Two suspects entered his apartment, assaulted him causing injury. The individuals did tie the victim up and took several items from the apartment complex," police Corporal Kevin Holbrook said.

"The victim was able to eventually free himself and seek help, at which point he made the 911 call."

In the same time frame, Holbrook said a patrol officer spotted a suspicious vehicle leaving the apartment complex at a high rate of speed.

"The officer was unable to pursue that vehicle and subsequently lost contact with the vehicle," Holbrook said.

He said the investigation eventually led to a home on Green Street Circle, where officers arrested 22 year old Quintilis Deon Davenport.

"There were items recovered from that house that did pertain to the robbery," Holbrook said.

He described them as miscellaneous items such as electronics.

Davenport was charged with robbery by force, first degree burglary, aggravated battery and false imprisonment.

More investigation led officers to the latest arrest on Tuesday. Holbrook said it involved a warrant served on Riverside Terrace, where authorities arrested 22 year old Cuba Alaska Martin III.

Martin is charged with armed robbery, false imprisonment, aggravated assault and first degree burglary.

Police requested help from the SWAT team serving the warrant, but Holbrook said Martin was taken into custody without incident.
