CLEVELAND - White County authorities confirmed they're investigating the shooting of a dog this week.

According to White County Sheriff's Captain Tim Chapman, it happened sometime Wednesday afternoon on Hawthorne Drive off Asbury Mill Road.

A family dog suffered the gunshot while chained in the backyard of a residence.

There's no word on the condition of the animal.

Chapman said an officer spoke with neighbors. They told police they didn't hear any gunshots.
