8-A tournament: Lakeview girls knocked out by Hebron

HIAWASSEE -- The Lakeview Academy girls basketball team suffered a 51-32 defeat to Hebron Christian on Wednesday in the Region 8-A tournament in Hiawassee.

The Lady Lions (13-13) allowed 25 points to Hebron in the fourth quarter after trailing 26-18 at the end of the third.

Kaylee McClendon scored eight points to lead Lakeview, while Taylor Handte added seven.

Amber Skidgell scored a game-high 26 for Hebron.

In other Region 8-A tournament action on Wednesday, The Providence Christian girls defeated Commerce 43-25. Providence will face Towns County at 4 p.m. Friday in a semifinal game at Hebron Christian.

Meanwhile, the Pinecrest Academy boys felled Providence Christian 43-42, while Commerce's boys advanced to the semifinals via a 55-52 defeat of Athens Academy.

The Tigers will face Athens Christian at 8:30 p.m. Friday in the semifinal round.
