Gladiators blanked by Stingrays, 2-0

By staff
DULUTH -- The South Carolina Stingrays notched a 2-0 win over the Gwinnett Gladiators on Friday night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. The shutout was South Carolina's third against the Gladiators this season.

After a scoreless first period, the Stingrays got on the board with a goal from Luka Vidmar 9:59 into the second period. The shot from the point went past the glove of Gwinnett netminder Louis Domingue. Although Gwinnett outshot the Stingrays 12 to 9 in the second, they trailed South Carolina 1-0 after the middle stanza.

Hunter Bishop added an empty net goal with 51 seconds left in the third to put the game away. Bishop's marker came unassisted for South Carolina.

South Carolina's Ryan Zapolski made 29 saves for the win and picked up his fourth shut out of the season, his third against Gwinnett.

Gwinnett will return to the Arena at Gwinnett Center Saturday night to face the South Carolina Stingrays 7:05 p.m.
