Memorial service scheduled Fri. for murder victim

By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor
GAINESVILLE - A memorial service will be held Friday for a Gainesville woman who was murdered in Gwinnett County over the weekend.

The service for Peggie Lynn Colvin Robinson, 61, will be held at 1:00 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Robinson was found stabbed to death Saturday at a house in Dacula.

Gwinnett County Police believe Robinson was "acting as a third party intermediary in a (child) custody exchange." (See earlier story. Link below.)

Robinson, the daughter of Leonard and Peggie Colvin of Big Canoe, had an abiding love of animals, according to her obituary, and served on the board of the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia and could frequently be found at PetSmart working in the adoption center.

After graduating from Minden (La.) High School and North Georgia College (now the University of North Georgia), she worked in the insurance industry and later became a financial adviser in partnership with her father at Merrill Lynch in Gainesville.

In the last few years of her life, the obituary states, Robinson devoted her time and energy to help raise her son's girlfriend's child whom she loved and cherished. In that role, "she found joy and happiness. In the end, she gave her life for this child. She believed that children deserve to have adults in their lives that care about them unconditionally. Her life is testimony to that belief."
