Giant M&M hoisted atop Atlanta 'Peach Drop' tower

By The Associated Press
ATLANTA (AP) A giant yellow M&M has been hoisted atop the structure used for Atlanta's Peach Drop New Year's Eve celebration downtown.

Organizers announced on the event's website that this year's celebration will include "a new twist," as a giant "M&M Peanut" will be featured alongside the peach. They say the 800-pound peach will still begin its decent shortly before midnight during the celebration at Underground Atlanta.

The yellow M&M -- its two halves spread apart -- was already on the metal tower used to drop the peach on Monday morning in preparation for the Peach Drop.
