Minor traffic accident blocks road, forces power outage

By Derreck Booth Anchor/reporter
GAINESVILLE - While the actual traffic accident was minor, a late morning wreck on Thompson Bridge Road in Gainesville blocked the road into the afternoon and forced a power outage.

According to Gainesville Police Corporal Joe Britte, a Jeep Liberty driven by 21-year-old Jeffery Michael Boisclair, rear-ended a Chevrolet van at Oak Tree Street around 10:44 a.m. One of the vehicles hit a power pole after the collision.

While no one was hurt, Britte said Boisclair ran on foot following the accident. Police caught him at a nearby BP station.

Britte said Boisclair is charged with DUI of drugs, driving with a suspended license, possession of marijuana of less than an ounce, possession of drug related objects, failure to maintain lane and leaving the scene of an accident with damage.

He was booked into the Hall County Jail.

Thompson Bridge Road remained blocked into the afternoon while power company officials repaired damage. Electrical service in the area was taken down while repairs were made.
