By staff reports
CLEVELAND -- White County opened the game with a 24-8 first quarter run and then held on for a 59-50 win over Dawson County in a battle of Region 7-AAA unbeaten teams.

The Warriors (6-1, 2-0 Region 7-AAA) got 26 points from Spencer Adams to maintain no worse than a share of first place early in the region standings. Whit Mauney added 12 points for White County.

Dawson County (7-2, 2-1) had its five-game win streak snapped with the loss. The Tigers pulled within 32-23 by halftime and trailed 44-35 heading into the fourth quarter. But they could get no closer.

Lucas Pain had 15 points to pace Dawson County. Levi Whitmire and Sam Muenchen each had 10 points for the Tigers.

White County will play host to Jackson County on Friday while Dawson County will travel to Lumpkin County on Friday in a pair of non-region contests.
