Winder man hurt in motorcycle accident

By Derreck Booth Anchor/reporter
JEFFERSON - A Winder man was hurt Thursday afternoon when he laid his motorcycle down in Jackson County.

According to the Georgia State Patrol Darrell Lee Dupree, 27, was riding his motorcycle south on Ebenezer Church Road, negotiating a sharp curve.

Authorities said Dupree laid the bike down, its undercarriage hitting a northbound pickup truck. State Troopers said Dupree entered the curve too fast. He received a warning for failure to maintain lane.

Dupree was taken to Athens Regional Medical Center. Troopers described his injuries as non-incapacitating.

The accident happened near W.H. Hayes Road around 2:20 p.m. The driver of the pickup was not injured, according to troopers.

Authorities remained on the accident scene for over an hour.
