Fire destroys garage and two vehicles

By Derreck Booth Anchor/reporter
GAINESVILLE - Gainesville Fire Marshal's Office officials were looking for the cause of a mid-morning fire Tuesday morning on Lakehill Drive.

Firefighters responded to the call around 9:45 a.m. and found heavy smoke and flames showing from a detached garage, according to Gainesville Fire Captain Keith Smith.

Smith said the blaze destroyed the garage, a pickup truck and a Corvette. While the nearby residence was not involved in flames, Smith said vinyl siding on one side of it melted.

No one was hurt.

Lakehill Drive is off of Cleveland Highway near Limestone Parkway.
