Police release composite sketch in November robbery

By Derreck Booth Anchor/reporter
GAINESVILLE - Gainesville Police Tuesday afternoon released a suspect description and composite sketch in a November 1, residential robbery.

The incident happened on a Friday evening at a residence on High Street, according to Gainesville Police Corporal Joe Britte.

Investigators believe the suspect forced his way in and confronted the homeowner.

"A confrontation where they both ensued into a fight, pretty much. The struggle ensued and basically the struggle led to substantial injuries to the homeowner," Britte said.

The homeowner, described only as a man, was alone at the time of the crime, according to Britte. He said the victim is no longer in the hospital.

Investigators said the suspect did brandish a handgun during the robbery, but no one was shot. The suspect left with items from the home, according to Britte.

Police said the attacker is described as a black man, 25-32 years-old, 5'8"-6' tall and approximately 175 pounds.

Authorities ask anyone with information about the crime call the Gainesville Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division at (770) 534-5254. Police said caller's can remain anonymous.
