Powers wraps weekend in Tennessee with three top 20 finishes

Area swim standout Paul Powers wrapped up a competitive showing on Saturday at the 2013 AT&T Winter National Championships at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center on the campus of the University of Tennessee.

Powers, a star for North Hall High and Splash Aquatic finished, 12th in the 100 backstroke on Friday, completing the race in 47.82 seconds, and then took 17th in the 100 freestyle on Saturday, finishing in 43.23.

Powers claimed three top 20 finishes during the weekend, also taking 11th in the 50 free on Thursday at a meet that featured collegiate competitors as well as Olympic hopefuls.
