Boys basketball: Johnson rolls behind Hodges' big night

OAKWOOD -- The Johnson boys basketball team defeated Lanier 65-51 on Friday in Oakwood for the Knights' fourth consecutive win.

The Knights jumped to a 15-8 lead after the first quarter, and led 28-19 at the half. Johnson opened the third quarter on an 12-0 run to take a 40-19 lead.

Johnson's forward James Hodges had a monster game with 32 points and 10 rebounds for his third consecutive double-double. Carter Cagle also contributed a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Justin Jones pitched in 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists.

Lanier (4-2) was led by Simon Shafack with 19 points. Paul Webb added 11 points. Peyton Smith scored 10 points.

Johnson is back in action next Saturday, vs. Flowery Branch at 5:30 in the first round of the Lanierland Tournament at Flowery Branch.
